After years of riding high on a streak of blockbusters— all conveniently produced by your beloved uncle— your perfect little world came crashing down when you found yourself tangled in a mess of scandal and allegations that left your reputation in shambles.

One fucking scandal. That is all it took to turn your carefully curated kingdom into a graveyard. You lost thousands of followers across all your social media accounts, all your endorsement deals and the industry turned its back on you.

But you persisted.

Once the dust settled, you clawed your way back. Starred in films that had no connection to your dearest uncle. You are more than your family name.

But here's the thing: they all flopped. Badly, at that.

And you found yourself, once again, at rock bottom.

But you see, you were born with this insatiable hunger in the pit of your stomach. It refuses to leave you alone. It's sunk its teeth deep into your intestines. You have tasted the top, and you're not afraid to bleed for it. So, you did what you thought was best for you at that time. Disappear from the public eye for a while.

Using your connections to gain a spot in the upcoming romantic drama TO THE MOON AND BACK with just enough buzz to restart your career. You know the right people. You know the wrong ones, too. And you're not above using either, pulling strings or calling in favors.

You will do anything to get your stardom back, even if it means getting your pretty hands a little dirty. Fame is a game. One you have played countless times— you're not about to lose now.

Single and in early 30s. Stoic and all business. It's hard to get a read of them. They are a constant in your life.

Tropes : Bodyguard romance, extremely slow burn, quiet yearning from distance, "crush" route, steel armour— soft core.

❂ THE VETERAN ACTOR :

Shiron "Shay" Hill. [he/him or she/her]

Married and in mid 40s, they continue to be a social media sensation to till this day. A friend of you and your uncle. They are the one who introduced you to the director and producer of To The Moon And Back and helped you score the lead role.

Tropes : Extra marital affair, steamy, age gap, forbidden romance, "married in name only," wedding band that feels like a chain and accidental touches that burn.

✵ THE DIRECTOR/PRODUCER :

Victor/ia "Vic" Alvarez. [he/him or she/her]

Single, former actor and in mid 40s. An incredibly close friend of Shiron. They have been attached at the hip since the two first began working together in the industry. All their works have proved to be the public's favourites and you hope that is also the case with T2MAB.

Tropes : Work romance, steamy, commitment issues, power imbalance, age gap, says "We can't do this," and does it anyway.

☼THE M/F LEAD :

Alexis "Alex" Sinclair. [he/him or she/her]

Co-actor and in late 20s. Charming and titled 'Industry's Budding Star' by People's Magazine. They seem to have a tendency to flirt with whatever that breathes. It would serve you best to not get involved with them, judging from their messy dating history.

Tropes : idiots in love, hurt/comfort, emotional intimacy, himbo/bimbo, friends/co-workers with benefits, "I will break your heart or, will you break mine?"

𝄞 THE SECOND M/F LEAD :

River Fox. [he/him or she/her]

Co-actor, singer and in late 20s. After having caught their now ex partner cheating on them, they seem to have a hard time trusting people. The fact that they dislike you for the means you used to get the role and the consequences it led to, doesn't help either.

Tropes : Slow burn, enemies-to-lovers, melting the ice king/queen, forced proximity, kind guy/gal who's mean to only you. "Your hurt recognises mine," in some instances.

☌ THE CAMERA(WO)MAN :

Arlo Kent. [he/him or she/her]

Single loyal to you and in their early 20s. They get all starry eyed and overly enthusiastic at the sight of you. More often than not, you have caught them not so discreetly keeping an eye you. You can only hope they are merely star struck and nothing more.

Tropes : Stalker/yandere fluffy romance. "I have always been watching," that somehow turns romantic. "You'll love me eventually," kinda horror romance.

It seems you are the only one surprised when it turns out you're able to compete in the World Surfer's League's Ultimate Tournament Tour*.

Arlo, despite living in Hawai'i since he was 13, has never been one for beaches or sports, choosing to spend his day in an art studio rather than on the beach, unlike most of the people he knows, including his twin sister; Aria. He's always kept you at arms length for reasons you aren't quite sure about.

Hilo Kalua Mahoe [nonbinary, they/them], your childhood best friend.

Apathetic and reserved, Hilo has been by your side since before you can remember (though your family has many pictures to prove this). Hilo is your exceptionally talented unofficial-official photographer, has been for years, and is accompanying you on the UTT. Ever since you were kids you’ve been hearing comments that Hilo is prickly or mean, but they’re never like that with you.

Elijah/Elaine Lee Ferguson [gender selectable], your rockstar ex.

Impulsive and (seemingly) confident E, more commonly known as ‘Lee Rex’ on stage and just Lee to their friends, is exactly what one would expect out of a rockstar. Your meeting with Lee was purely by coincidence, during their US tour, a show that a couple of your friends dragged you to— though if you knew that know you probably wouldn’t have agreed to go. Whatever Lee was like as your partner is long gone now; evident by all the photos they’ve posted making out with someone on their Instagram story.

Noemia/Nikita Azevedo [gender selectable], your wildcard competitor.

Charismatic and arrogant, N has already made a name for themselves in the surfing community. After placing in the final five in the last UTT, they’ve been chosen as a wildcard this time around. Really, you don’t know all that much about N, considering you’ve never even met them, but from your limited research (e.g: watching interviews on YouTube) you can tell they’re.. a bit of a flirt. It’s hard to tell if a facade or not; but you don’t really want to find out, either.

The demo is up!

This is so fkn nerve wracking for me lol, but I am really wanting input on my writing, on the story, and sharing what I create. The demo isn’t a full chapter, but I think it is a good start for me. Small steps. I have never published any of my writing before, after all.

The demo won’t be up on the choice script forum yet, I’d like to have all of chapter one when I take it to that level. For now, thank you for showing interest in my work.

If anyone is willing to give feedback on the style of writing, the flow of the story and continuity errors, I’d be very grateful. I am not too concerned with grammar, but of course I am aware that English is not my first language. Unless it is so bad that you can’t read it well, then let me know, otherwise let it be! Remember this is absolutely a work in progress.

You’re a human. You’re a bartender, which is a very normal job for a human to have, and when you walk down the winding streets of Akureyri you can blend seamlessly into any crowd of people which is, without question, only something that a human could do.

The fact that you came here two years ago with nothing but the clothing on your back doesn’t mean anything; you’re hardly northern Iceland’s first wayfaring soul. That you had no money to your name, no friends or family to speak of — that’s a fairly average human thing, too. And that little craving you have, that quiet urge to dig your teeth into any passing stranger’s throat? It's completely, entirely mundane.

It’s manageable. You’re managing.

Or you were, until someone — someone who's decidedly notas good at this human thing as you are — begins leaving a trail of dead bodies at your doorstep, and a trio of god-like siblings take a seat at your bar.

MAGNI THORSON .

No doubt the mightiest of his siblings, the eldest child of Thor is exactly the sort of person you would expect him to be: a giant (half-giant, in fact) asshole with a smoulder and a knife-sharp jawline to match. He’ll match your every word with a cocky grin and a joke that’s nowhere near as funny as he thinks, and he’ll look every inch the prince that he is all the while.

(Well, the prince that he was. Just don’t let him hear you say that.)

MODI THORSON .

For the supposed embodiment of his father’s wrath, the God of Thunder’s second son is surprisingly…not that. He’s no picnic, mind you — he’s broody, he’s secretive, and he's fucking intense, but that hardly equates to fury incarnate. You’re sure there’s something hiding under that moody surface; whether or not you want to uncover it is a different story entirely.

(Looks like even gods aren’t immune to middle-child syndrome. Who knew?)

THRÚD THORSDÓTTIR .

Valkyrie, seidhr,paragon of strength — with all of her mother’s best traits (and a few of her father’s worst), is it any wonder that Thor’s youngest child was also his favourite? Smarter than her half-brothers and more likeable by a longshot, you might find yourself forgetting how easily the fortune-telling goddess could break you in two. You might, but she’ll be happy to remind you if you do.

Folksaga is inspired by The Edda, Norse mythology, andTwin Peaks, with a bit of tweaking to the myths as needed for the sake of plot. MC backgrounds have been adjusted to fit for all players regardless of gender identity, and creative liberty has been taken with some smaller points for a smoother storytelling experience. All changes will be explained in an FAQ post (too be added in the links below ASAP!)

AS OF AUGUST 21 UPDATE: The current demo consists of the prologue (introductory lore + character creation), + chapter 1, about 70k words total.

I expect it to be somewhere in the range of 600,000 to 700,000 words, but this is subject to change (and likely will due to my propensity for rambling text. oops.).

I’ve written  short and long-form original fiction as well as a lot of fanfic (say hello @ pentaghastly on AO3, and @kendallroynsfw on tumblr!), but this is my first IF! Bugs and coding issues may appear in the demo; please let me know if any issues arise during your playthroughs.

Also, speaking of the demo, I've been thinking a lot about Ultimate Real Fiction DR2s and DR1s lately. I had the idea for this au (which doesn't even necessarily need to be an AU) where in the v3 universe, Team DR made Live Action TV show adaptations of DR1 and DR2 as a way to test Ultimate Real Fiction technology.

While Hajime and Makoto in the demo don't align with my main thoughts on this AU, it does propose a neat offshoot where in these tests, they potentially only inserted the *memories* of the DR1s and DR2s into their Real Fiction actors while maintaining their original identities. Maybe as a way to enhance their emotions and make the acting more "authentic" before realizing the potential and diving into creating true Real Fictional Characters. In this case, the surviving "DR1s" and "DR2s" (if any died at all) would still be on the side of and working with Team DR. In the demo, they were helping test the V3's real fiction personalities before the season began, and especially making sure Kaede was ready to be a protagonist.
